Jenkintown soccer senior named to All-Southeastern Pennsylvania team, Cheltenham upperclassmen selected to PMEA Choir Festival

James Callas, a senior at Jenkintown High School, recently become the first player in the soccer program’s history to be named to the All-Southeastern Pennsylvania Team.

“I couldn’t have imagined having a better captain this past season!!! Your leadership, dedication, hard work, and grit were a joy to witness. I wish we had more years together to make more history!!” Drakes’ head coach Siafa Kamara Dempster said in a social media post.

In the fall, the 6’3″ 175-pound Callas was named to the Class 1A All-EasternPAFootball.com Team as a Kicker. He plays basketball for the Drakes as well.

In related news, Cheltenham High School junior Quinn Durso and senior Lena Cathcart have been selected to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s (PMEA) District 11 Choir Festival from January 24-26 at Bensalem High School.

Following a series of auditions, Durso and Cathcart were chosen from a pool of hundreds of students from schools across Bucks and Montgomery counties. The District 11 Choral Festival is followed by the Region Choir Festival on March 7-9 at Quakertown High School and the PMEA Annual Conference in Erie in April.
