Jenkintown receives $52K for York Road pedestrian/vehicle safety grant

Jenkintown Borough recently announced that the Montgomery County Commissioners approved a $52,000 York Road Traffic Calming & Walkability Implementation Grant through the Montco2040 grant program.

The grant’s safety elements will improve pedestrian and vehicle safety on York Road, the Borough said.

Abington Township was also awarded a grant for Master Bicycle Plan Implementation, which will include some bicycle infrastructure in Jenkintown such as bike lane connections on two Borough roads between Rydal Road and Washington Lane.

As you will recall this plan was worked on with the assistance of our Business Owners, Residents, Borough Council, Professional Engineers and Staff. Abington Township encouraged the submittal of the application for funding and PennDOT approved the plan.
