Jenkintown High School receives the 2021 AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award

The Jenkintown School District announced on their Facebook page that Jenkintown High School has received the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award.

The award comes from The College Board, a non-profit that “clears a path for all students to own their future through the Advanced Placement Program, the SAT, Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy, BigFuture, and more.”

Blurb from College Board Press Release:

Research shows that female students who take AP computer science are more likely to major in computer science in college compared to female students of similar background and academic preparation who didn’t take AP computer science courses. Through your leadership in diversifying computer science education, you’re preparing your female students for the high-paying, in-demand jobs of the future and giving them the opportunity to help solve some of society’s most challenging problems. Visit our website for additional strategies to recruit students traditionally underrepresented in computer science courses.

The AP Computer Science Principles course is offered to male and female students in grades 9-12.
