The Jenkintown School District has entered into a partnership with Godshall Kane O’Rourke Architects, LLC (GKO Architects) of Ambler to move forward with a possible facilities expansion. The board recommended to approve the proposal during their meeting on Monday, December 9.
Possibilities include an early childhood development center, more classroom space within the high school, and improvements to the athletic stadium, support spaces and fields. The meeting was preceded by an announcement in late November that the district is looking to acquire land currently occupied by Salba Apartments, located at 309 Walnut Street.
A public presentation regarding the potential expansion was held on Monday, December 2 at 5:30pm. You can watch it below:
“We are engaging with GKO to create preliminary plans that can be used to seek grants and donations as we explore the possibility of expanding our facilities,” board president Dr. Megan O’Brien told Glenside Local in an email on Monday.
GKO Architects said it expects to have a site and floor plans by January 2025.
