Jefferson Abington receives multiple recognitions from American Heart Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses

Jefferson Abington Hospital has received multiple recognitions in August.

This week, the hospital announced it has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® Regional Recognition award and the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus award.

“This national recognition highlights our team’s commitment to delivering lifesaving stroke care that leads to faster recovery, fewer complications, and better outcomes for our patients,” officials said of the Stroke Gold Plus award.

Mission: Lifeline is the American Heart Association’s national initiative to enhance care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive medical conditions, including STEMI heart attacks.

“Hospitals earn the achievement award by demonstrating a commitment to working with their referring and receiving hospital partners, as well as EMS, to form a system of care based on the most up-to-date research-based guidelines as outlined by the American Heart Association,” the health system said in a press release. “The award is based on the region meeting the metrics, rather than on individual hospital achievement.”

“This award is acknowledgement of our hospitals’ achievements in cardiac care and dedication to our heart attack patients,” said Joseph E. Bavaria, MD, FACS, FRCS, Executive Director of the Bruce & Robbi Toll Heart and Vascular Institute. “Congratulations to the many clinical teams across our system for this accomplishment and delivering exceptional care to every heart attack patient.”

Other Jefferson Health hospitals recognized with the Mission: Lifeline® Regional Recognition award include: Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Jefferson Lansdale Hospital, Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, and Jefferson Bucks Hospital.

Silver Beacon Award for Excellence

Jefferson Abington’s Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) was recently presented with the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

“This national recognition honors nursing units for demonstrating exceptional care, greater collaboration and positive patient outcomes in critical care settings,” the hospital said in a post.

Comprehensive Cardiac Center Recertification

Last week, the hospital announced that it has been officially recertified as a Comprehensive Cardiac Center by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association.

“This rare and hard-earned distinction, achieved by only 22 hospitals nationwide, is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our staff, who go above and beyond to provide the highest level of heart care,” hospital officials said in a post. “For our patients and their families, it means reassurance and trust in receiving exceptional cardiac care right here at Jefferson.”
