If you’re looking for a Bohemian physical space with a professional vibe and plenty of networking opportunities, iThrive in Wyncote/Jenkintown is worth a look-see.
iThrive began in 2019 under the name Ambler Yards, and has since expanded with locations in Malvern and now Wyncote. It offers affordable and flexible workspace solutions for freelancers, startups, and remote professionals. There are a variety of membership types and durations, including the mobile membership, iThrive’s most popular option.
The new location officially opened as a temporary space on January 2 at 145 Greenwood Avenue, Wyncote. Karen Mellor (pictured above), Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing & Operations, has overseen progress from Day One.
“Plans for the Pop Up location began in October 2022, and everything has gone very smoothly. We appreciate being a block away from the Jenkintown train station, and our building is walkable to the downtown area. That’s the kind of property we like to find,” Karen said.
A permanent space is in the works with renovations planned for February, to be completed by May. The temporary space occupies the left side of the building, and the permanent location will exist on the right.
The building itself dates back to 1843 as a foundry for metal castings and a livery for horses. Some of the original hardwood is constructed from railroad ties derived from the Willow Grove Tunnel and the brick is field stone from the same area.
Each location has expanded its offerings, and Wyncote will be the first to house a soundproof recording studio for video and audio needs.
In addition to providing rentable rooms, iThrive aims to build community by hosting monthly lunches, mastermind group meetings for entrepreneurial members, a connective app for networking, and happy hours.
“We try to create a friendly and approachable work environment,” Karen said. “We want to facilitate coming together, and people are eager to get together in person again. The Ambler location is thriving.”
