Huntingdon Valley Fire Company mourns loss of Mike Burns, volunteer professional firefighter

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company is mourning the sudden loss of firefighter Michael Burns.

Burns was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening, according to the company’s Facebook post.

Burns served as a volunteer professional firefighter for the Huntingdon Valley station and assisted with the engineering department. He was recently elected as a trustee, the post said.

He was also a firefighter with Cheltenham Fire Company before serving in Huntingdon Valley.

Huntingdon Valley Fire Company changed their Facebook profile picture to honor his passing.


“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Karen and their family. May he Rest in Peace,” the post said.

According to Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, Inc. funeral home, the following services have been scheduled:

Viewing, on March 16, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., ending at 11:30 a.m., at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, Inc., 333 W County Line Rd, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.

Funeral service, on March 16, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, Inc., 333 W County Line Rd, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.

Graveside service, on March 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
