History with Chuck: Five former Abington standouts in the NFL

Abington Senior High School has been playing scholastic football since 1912, and over the years, five former Ghosts have played in the NFL.

Chuck Weber

Weber graduated from Abington in 1949 and played in the NFL from 1955 to 1961. In the 1960 NFL championship game, Chuck was the Philadelphia Eagles middle linebacker in their 17-13 victory over coach Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers.

Chuck passed away in 2017 at the age of 87.

Shawn Wooden

A 1991 graduate of Abington High, Wooden played defensive back in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.

Eddie George

The 1995 Heisman Trophy winner attended Abington his freshman and sophomore seasons before transferring to Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. George played running back in the NFL from 1996 to 2004 with Houston, Tennessee, and Dallas.

Kyle Pitts

Pitts played his ninth and tenth grade seasons at Abington before transferring to Archbishop Wood. Kyle is currently playing tight end for the Atlanta Falcons.


Craig Reynolds

The 2014 Abington High graduate played running back last season with the Detroit Lions.
