History with Chuck: Chris Conlin, Bishop McDevitt’s All-American NFL product

Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote produced one football player who played in the NFL during its 62-year existence: 1983 graduate Chris Conlin.

Conlin, an offensive lineman, was a three-year starter at Penn State, earning All-American honors in 1986 on coach Joe Paterno’s national championship team that defeated Miami 14-10 in the Fiesta Bowl.

Conlin was drafted in the fifth round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He played 5 seasons in the NFL with the Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts and went on to play in the Arena Football League where he won an ArenaBowl championship with the Tampa Bay Storm in 1995.

Once retired he went on to coach 10 years in the Arena Football League. Conlin was the line coach for the Arizona Rattlers where he produced a #1 ranked rushing defense and #2 ranked scoring defense.

Chris now works as a Construction Manager for Lotspiech Company based in Miami Lakes. He is married to wife Loretta and they have one daughter Laurin.
