The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association (GGPA) will host a “Boot Scootin’ Ball” fundraiser from 6:00pm – 10:00pm on April 25 at the North Penn VFW Post 676 (2519 Jenkintown Road).

The event will include country/western music with line dancing (boots encouraged), a pig roast, festive drinks, raffles and 50/50 drawings. Proceeds will benefit the Greater Glenside July 4th events (children’s program, parade, and fireworks).

A Priceless Tradition Worth Supporting!

Glenside, Pennsylvania, is renowned for its vibrant community spirit, and at the heart of this spirit lies the Greater Glenside Patriotic Association (GGPA) and their phenomenal annual celebrations of patriotism. Having read about their efforts and the call for donations, it’s clear that these events are not merely fun gatherings but essential cornerstones of local identity and national pride.

The GGPA orchestrates two key events: a poignant Memorial Day ceremony in partnership with the North Penn VFW, and the truly spectacular Glenside Independence Day celebration. On July 4th, the day is packed with activities designed for all ages, creating a joyous, family-friendly atmosphere. It kicks off with a delightful children’s program featuring charming bike decorating contests and lively relay races, immediately engaging the youngest members of the community in the festivities.

However, the undeniable centerpiece is the grand Independence Day parade. A continuous tradition since 1904 – that’s over a century of pride marching through the heart of Glenside – this parade is a magnificent spectacle, showcasing diverse acts from across the country. It’s a genuine testament to enduring community spirit and a powerful display of American heritage. The day culminates in a dazzling fireworks display at Abington High School, providing a breathtaking capstone to the celebrations.

What makes these events even more commendable is that they are all completely free to attend. This accessibility ensures that everyone, regardless of economic status, can participate in and enjoy these vital community gatherings. This incredible freedom from admission fees is made possible by the GGPA’s diligent fundraising, relying entirely on private donations from local businesses and residents.
