Abington Township Public Library to host 3 Town Hall events in November to discuss plans for new library

Abington Township Public Library will host three Town Hall events in November to discuss the ways in which community surveys, focus groups, and other events have informed design options for a forthcoming library.

In late September, the library announced that it will be working with MPdL Studio on the design of its new main library building. From their memo:

MPdL Studio is an Architecture and Design practice with extensive experience in the design of libraries, community centers and civic projects at all scales. Led by Monica Ponce de Leon, the studio brings together an interdisciplinary team of practitioners with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Their practice is well-known for developing innovative approaches to the crafting of architecture that result in unique projects that are both community-centered and environmentally responsible.

The memo noted that a survey has been launched to collect public feedback for the new building.

In April, Library Director Elizabeth Fitzgerald issued a statement regarding the $749,750 award “to plan and design a library facility that is sustainable, accessible, efficient and tailored to the needs of the community.”

MPdL Studio and community engagement team FastForward Libraries will attend the Town Hall events, the announcement said.
