Whenever I visit friends or family in an area new to me, I like to ask them, “What makes you proud to live here?”
In other words, when I travel I want to know what it’s like to be a local. Museums and monuments are nice, but I lived in Boston for ten years and never once walked the Freedom Trail. I loved the neighborhoods. I brought out-of-town visitors to my favorite hang-outs and to see the little things that made my neighborhood special.

Did you know that Keswick Village had a library? It’s easy to miss, but it’s full of great things to read and completely free. No library card required.
Near the corner entrance to Penny’s Flower Shop, you’ll find a beautifully built Little Free Library where you can take a book or leave a book (space permitting). If you follow the link, you can see a map of registered libraries near you.
You can even find links to plans for building your own Little Library, but in the meantime, consider picking up a free book to go with that lovely bouquet.
We love walking the walkable communities, so GlensideLocal will take a stroll and present our readers with the people that give us all these great stores, restaurants, and other small businesses that make Glenside and Jenkintown such attractive places to live, work, and visit.
