Glenside resident opens A Place At Home, a new senior caregiving company based in Jenkintown

Tawanda Hennix of Glenside officially opened A Place At Home, an outbound senior care business, in late July.

Their offices are located at 610 Old York Road (Suite 400) in Jenkintown and were inspired by Hennix’s experiences while taking care of her own grandmother many years ago.

“I didn’t know there were opportunities and places available to help provide care for her. It was a lot to take on,” she said. “I spent some time working in senior facilities. I found that I enjoyed working with seniors, but I didn’t necessarily like the care they were provided, so I decided to open my own senior care company.”

Hennix, a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls, has a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from Peirce College in Philadelphia. Her professional background includes retail management, accounting, and customer service.

“Our main goal is to provide care for clients so they can stay within their home without having to be placed in a facility,” Hennix said. “We want to take pressure off of family members who are caring for Mom, Dad, whoever that family member may be. I’ve been there before, so I understand the need of having someone to help with the process.”

A Place At Home serves families across greater Glenside, including Jenkintown, Willow Grove, Elkins Park, and the surrounding communities. Their philosophy, “We Are CARE,” translates into Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, and Ethical care for each of their clients.
