Cheltenham Township Emergency Management announced that a spill of petroleum products was discovered in the creek near the intersection of Valley Road and Coventry Avenue on the evening of Saturday, May 10.
According to their post, the spill was isolated and booms were placed in the creek to prevent the product from spreading.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the spill, and residents in the area may smell a gasoline odor in the area for several days.
First responders included the Fire Department, Emergency Management, Cheltenham Police, Cheltenham Fire Marshal’s Office, EMS, DEP, PA Fish and Boat Commission.
