First heatwave of the summer expected by week’s end with severe weather potential on Friday, forecasters say

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in the high 80s on Thursday and the low 90s on Friday for greater Glenside.

Friday’s forecast comes with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2:00pm and “severe weather potential” in the afternoon and early evening, the agency said.

Accuweather’s forecast for Friday: “Hot with times of clouds and sunshine; a strong thunderstorm in spots late in the afternoon; thunderstorms can bring hail and localized damaging wind gusts”.


Saturday and Sunday will be sunny with temperatures in the mid-80s. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will see temperatures back in the 90s, the agency said.
