Family searching for details after 91-year-old Glenside resident was struck by a car

Patrick McMenamin, 91, of Glenside was struck by a vehicle on the evening of Thursday, January 31 on the 100 block of South Easton Road while crossing the street after having dinner at the Glenside Pub.

According to McMenamin’s family, he has suffered multiple fractures to the right side of his body and will spend months in rehabilitation.

A family member said that the woman who hit McMenamin stopped at the scene and immediately called the police, though the family has yet to receive a police report. The family is asking for information from anyone who witnessed this accident and may have further details.

Patrick McMenamin

A 64-year employee of Ancillae Assumpta Academy and a regular at St. Luke’s for roughly 30 years, “Mr. Pat” is a neighborhood fixture and easily recognized by his cap and shillelagh (Irish walking stick).

“Patrick is a good soul who greets everyone with a hello and a warm smile,” his cousin, Mairead M. Wink, said. “Unfortunately, his whole right side is basically broken. We’re hoping that someone can fill in some blanks.”
