1. Open to Public E Waste, Shredding and Repurpose At Arcadia MLK Day

  2. Took place on Monday, January 15th, 2018 from 10:00am to 3:00pm
  3. Arcadia University students, in conjunction with the University’s Community and Civic Engagement Center, will host the annual MLK Day of Service Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event on Monday, January 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p The Martin Luther King Day of Service is all about giving back to the community and remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and work. The Day of Service Legislation was signed in 1983 creating a federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off." In recognition, Arcadia created a day of service that consists of a Shredding, eWaste, & Repurposing Event that is put in place to provide the community somewhere to donate their items that need a new home. The public is invited to donate gently used items to fulfill the wish lists of local nonprofit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, Heaven’s Treasures Thrift & Value Stores, New Life, VMC thrift store, Baby Bureau, Cradles to Crayons, Philly Paws, and Philadelphia Reads. Items such as clothing, working electronics, housewares, school supplies, new or gently used shoes, and pet supplies are all welcomed donations. In particular this year, donations of winter coats (for adults and children), baby formula, diapers, and wipes are needed to support families relocated to the area from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. A full wish list of what will be accepted is available online. Additionally, this popular Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event is a great opportunity for community members looking to properly and securely dispose of eWaste electronic or metal items (with the exception of televisions and CRT monitors). 611 Metals Recycling will be collecting onsite. ShredOne will provide a maximum security shredding service for documents that contain sensitive information. Arcadia's CCEC is offering a drive-up service for the Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event, with volunteers available to unload cars. Community members are asked to use the Church Road entrance and follow signs to the drop off area.
