Elementary-aged school girl dialed 9-1-1 before fatal shooting in Glenside

A violent domestic dispute at the Rosemore Gardens apartment complex in Glenside on Thursday, March 6, which resulted in the fatal shooting of a man was first reported by an elementary-aged school girl, NBC10 reported.

After dialing 9-1-1, the girl told police she escaped the apartment where an armed man was holding her mother hostage. After officers knocked down the door to the apartment, two officers fired their weapons striking the man.

“In this case, these officers followed all the protocols and training with regard to what they believed was a hostage rescue,” Malloy told NBC10, adding that they acted in a “heroic manner.”

“This could have ended badly,” Malloy said. “In this case, the officers are responding to a violent domestic, in which at least two shots were fired, the last shot was right before they entered, knowing there was a helpless female in there. So, the good guys took the door down, entered, in an effort to save the life of this adult female.”

Both officers who fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave as the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office investigates the shooting, NBC10 said.

The identities of those involved have not been released.
