El Limon, Wawa Glenside announce grand opening dates

The much anticipated El Limon restaurant on Wesley Avenue and the Wawa convenience store on S. Easton Road have announced their grand opening dates, both of which will take place this month.

El Limon

El Limon, which has had pending township, fire marshal and county approvals, is scheduled to open on Tuesday, December 6.

“Everything inside is ready to go,” Mark Irwin, the property’s co-owner, said. “The place is in good working order for him to be able to open for business.”

Wawa

The Wawa on the corner of S. Easton and W. Waverly Roads has scheduled its grand opening for Thursday, December 15.

It’s been a long time coming. Site construction began in July, though initial plans reach back to 2019 when Goodman Properties, a Jenkintown-based real estate development and property management firm, was given the nod to build.

One of the branch’s last legs of approval is a Montgomery County health inspection, which is expected to be finalized next week.

“I think it’ll help out the area. We’re very involved in our community, and I think it’ll give the people another option,” Andrew, a general manager at the Limekiln Pike branch for the last seven years, said.

He noted that five employees from the Limekiln branch will be transferred to the S. Easton branch, and that the anticipation from area residents has been brewing.

“The moment we took the fence down for one of our recent inspections, 20 or so people tried to get in,” he said. “I think it’s good for Arcadia because it’s in walking distance of the dorms.”

“Their Certificate of Occupancy is the last stage in the process,” Henry Selawungu, Cheltenham Township Director of Planning and Zoning, said. “It may be a temporary certificate with pending items. Wawa may be given 60-90 days to wrap up loose ends.”
