Dresher mother accused of neglecting/starving care dependent son pleads not guilty, homicide trial scheduled for November

Sherrilynn Hawkins, 43, of the 1100 block of Market Street in the Dresher section of Upper Dublin Township, entered not guilty pleas to charges of first- and third-degree murder, neglect of care of dependent person, abuse of care of dependent person, theft and conspiracy to commit theft, Mainline Media News reported.

She will face a November 15 homicide trial for allegedly neglecting Tylim Hatchett, her 21-year-old care dependent son who died on September 18, 2024.

Hawkins will face life imprisonment if convicted of first-degree murder, Mainline Media said. Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty.

The victim’s father, Vernon Hatchett, also known as Khaliyl Ward, 39, of Glenside, is charged with neglect of care of a dependent person, abuse of care of a dependent person and conspiracy to commit involuntary manslaughter.

A $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest was announced on April 1. A $5,000 reward was first announced in January.
