Demolition for forthcoming Abington Autozone is complete, construction to follow

Demolition for the forthcoming Autozone at 1318 – 1330 Easton Road in Abington Township is complete.

The origins of the project date back to May 2022 when Autozone’s proposal was approved by the Township. On March 22, 2023, the property was sold for $530,900.

On September 19, 2023, developers were greenlighted to start demolishing the property’s parcels, formerly used as a dry cleaners and hair salon (1318 Easton Rd, 3,753 SF) and an office building (1330 Easton Rd, 2,600 SF).

The lot’s size is 22,451 square feet.

According to Chris Platz, Abington Township Fire Marshal, no building permits for construction have been issued at the time of this writing, and a tentative completion date has not been announced.

In order to get to that point, Autozone will have to work with Abington officials.

“Any developer or individual completing work in the township must comply with the PA UCC regulations, local building amendments, the Abington Township Zoning Ordinance, Abington Township Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, as well as any stipulations provided by the Zoning Hearing Board should they have presented to them,” Platz said. “This is not an all-inclusive list, but some of the most common regulations that someone must comply with.”
