The Lower Moreland Police Department shared a number of road closures that will affect traffic in the Huntingdon Valley area this month:
County Line Road
Norfolk Southern will begin resurfacing the railroad crossing on County Line Road beginning April 14. The road will be closed for a few days, officials said.
Philmont Avenue
Aqua will be closing Philmont Avenue, between Red Lion Road and Pine/Tomlinson Roads for around-the-clock construction beginning April 14 until approximately April 28.
During this time, access to local businesses will be maintained through Red Lion Road or Pine Road.
SEPTA Regional Rail Work
SEPTA will be conducting railroad work between Bethayres Stations and Red Lion Road to build a new universal interlocking system.
This project, which will be carried out by SEPTA’s in-house forces, is expected to continue through 2027 with varying degrees of construction and some nighttime and overnight work possible. The work will mainly take place during daytime hours, with some exceptions.
Additionally, around-the-clock work is scheduled for the following weekends:
- May 3-4
- May 17-18
- May 31- June 1

Moredon Road
Abington Township will be conducting bridge work along Moredon Road (Lorimer Park) which will impact traffic in Lower Moreland Township. As a result, Moredon Road will be closed, and traffic will be detoured to Pine and Moreland Roads.
Work is set to begin on April 28 and the detour will remain in effect until the project’s completion in February 2026.
