CHS senior Katie Barnes wins $5K scholarship in ‘Financial Jeopardy’ competition

Cheltenham School District recently announced that high school senior Katie Barnes won a $5,000 scholarship yesterday playing TruMark’s “Financial Jeopardy,” which tested students’ personal finance knowledge in categories such as banking, credit, taxes, budgeting, and investments.

The Arcadia-bound Barnes competed against students from Upper Dublin, Northeast, William Tennent, and other local schools. At the end of the competition, TruMark Financial awarded three scholarships – a $5,000 grand prize, a $3,000 second prize, and a $2,000 third prize – to the students who fared best in the Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy, and Final Jeopardy rounds of the competition.

Last month, Barnes was featured by CBS3 Philadelphia for her role in organizing a Prom Pop-Up Shop, the proceeds of which went to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
