Cheltenham Tree Tenders selling shade trees to be planted in April, orders due Feb. 9

The Tree Tenders of Cheltenham Township are offering to plant shade trees for residents.

Trees which are planted within about 10’ of the street or sidewalk cost $110, and trees planted in other locations cost $135. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) subsidizes the trees and trained volunteers plant them.

Sizes are between 7’ and 14’ bare root or 4′-7′ tall in 5- or 7-gallon containers, depending on species. Smaller trees are available for small yards or under wires.

  • American Elm
  • American Linden
  • Hackberry
  • Bitternut Hickory
  • White Oak
  • Willow Oak
  • Bald Cypress

Medium-Sized Trees

  • ‘Oregon Trail’ Sugar Maple
  • Heritage River Birch
  • Black Gum (Tupelo)
  • Honeylocust
  • Osage Orange
  • Southern Magnolia
