Cheltenham Township to receive $299K to address post-Hurricane Ida issues

Cheltenham Township will receive $299,840 to address critical stormwater and sewer drainage issues that worsened in the wake of Hurricane Ida, Montgomery County commissioners announced.

Improvements will focus on Euston Road, with work extending to Chelsea Road, Oak Lane, and Cheltenham Avenue. A new stormwater network—including curbs, gutters, inlets, and storm sewers—will be installed to protect properties vulnerable to future high-intensity rainfall.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has allocated over $9 million in federal disaster recovery funds to rehabilitate housing and infrastructure in communities impacted by Hurricane Ida through a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
