GVF’s annual TDM Advocate’s program is a year-round benchmarking program that recognizes organizations for their commitment to implementing programs that promote commuting alternatives and alleviate congestion for their employees and the community. 

TDM involves strategies that aim to reduce congestion, improve the environment and our quality of life. Examples of TDM include using different modes like a bus, bike or walking. It looks at the current design of our neighborhoods so that people can make choices other than driving alone.

Cheltenham achieved Diamond Level status by meeting more than 15 TDM criteria across five levels, including providing a municipal-sponsored shuttle for residents, implementing a sustainability plan, promoting a Safe Routes to School program, maintaining bicycle racks at municipal facilities and train stations, providing residents with information about road closures and delays, and adopting zoning ordinances that promote shared parking and mixed-use/transit-oriented development, among other initiatives.
