Cheltenham to host special meeting to discuss search for new Township Manager, Chief of Police on March 31

The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, March 31, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm to discuss the search and selection of candidates for Township Manager and Chief of Police.

Officials said the meeting will be held via Zoom and at Curtis Hall in Elkins Park. A Zoom link will be in the meeting’s agenda, which will be posted by the end of the week.

The agenda for January 5’s board of commissioners meeting included a resolution appointing Alyson Elliott as the Acting Manager/Secretary “until a permanent Township Manager/Secretary is hired per Section 705 of the Cheltenham Township Home Rule Charter.”

Chief of Police John Slavin is scheduled to retire on July 31. The township’s Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget outlines the goal to fill the position. More details here.
