The agenda for January 5’s board of commissioners meeting includes a resolution appointing Alyson Elliott as the Acting Manager/Secretary “until a permanent Township Manager/Secretary is hired per Section 705 of the Cheltenham Township Home Rule Charter.”
Elliot was appointed Acting Township Manager in October 2022 following former manager Robert Zienkowski’s resignation. She was appointed Township Manager in May 2023.

Chief of Police John Slavin is scheduled to retire on July 31. The township’s Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget outlines the goal to fill the position, and the announcement of a search for a new Chief is on the docket for Monday’s meeting.
Chief Slavin was sworn in as Cheltenham’s 11th Chief of Police in July 2022, after serving as Acting Chief following the retirement of John Frye in 2021. More on his career here.
In related matters, Janice Salerno is set to be appointed Township Controller, Edward Diasio as Township Solicitor, and Sherrie Jakeman as Acting Controller, each for two-year terms.
