Cheltenham student named $1K Ian McGuire Music Scholarship Fund recipient

Mason Williams, a student at Cheltenham High School, was recently named one of four recipients of the Ian McGuire Music Scholarship Fund.

Williams (pictured above with his mother Liza) received $1000 and a certificate of recognition for his musical achievements.

The fund was founded in 2022 to honor the legacy of the late performer, composer, and teacher Ian McGuire, CHS Class of 2001. The fund’s mission is to connect and support the advancement of music education for musicians, providing aid and assistance to children, adults, and communities.

From the Fund’s website:

Ian McGuire was a Philadelphia musician and piano teacher with over ten years of teaching experience. He graduated the distinguished Berklee College of Music in 2005. Berklee College of Music is a private music college in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world.

Ian established and was part of a number of bands through the years including MJ Project, Sonic Spank, The Blurry Nights, CIA, Let’s Danza! and McGuire Zwang Duo.
