Jordan Sowell, a senior member of Cheltenham High School’s track and field team, was recently highlighted in MileSplit.com for his record-setting performance at the Track and Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia Meet No. 1 on Saturday, December 16 in Lehigh.
Sowell recorded a triple jump of 49-9.25, the second best in Pennsylvania history. The mark is less than a foot behind the state record 50-6.75, set by Carlton Lavong (Methacton) in 2010.
The jump also set a new school and meet record and places Sowell among the best jumpers in the nation.
At the UAGTCA Ron Jackson Youth Invitational this summer, Sowell jumped an outdoor personal best of 47-3.75. He finished fifth at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship last year.
Sowell’s 1600M relay team, which included juniors Josh Herard, Jordan Grady and Nathan Hoffman, finished with a time of 3:32.32.
Herard and Grady also qualified for the Meet of Champions, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 60M hurdles.
