The Cheltenham Township Police Department is collecting toys for Toys For Tots.
“Every year, [the] Cheltenham Township Police Department is proud to partner with the Marine Corps Reserve in support of #ToysForTots,” according to a statement issued by the Police Department. “We respectfully ask for your help by donating a new unwrapped toy to this noble cause.”
“[The] Cheltenham Township Police Department is a Donation Location and collection bins are located in our lobby,” the statement continued. “Donations are accepted 24-hours a day. Together we can help those in need have the happiest of holidays.”
The Cheltenham Township Police Department is located at 8230 Old York Road in Elkins Park.
There is no list of “appropriate toys” to donate.
“Toys For Tots does not publish a list of appropriate toys to donate,” according to a statement from the non-profit organization. “If such a list were created, most would follow it, resulting in a limited selection of items to distribute in each community. We would rather our donors consider what might be an appropriate gift for their own child/relative, purchase the item, and donate to Toys For Tots.”
Certain toys are not acceptable for donation. “Toys For Tots prefers not to accept realistic looking weapons and gifts with food,” according to a statement from Toys For Tots. “If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.”
