William M. Broadnax Sr., 84, of the 7700 block of Lucretia Mott Way in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham Township, pleaded guilty to stabbing his adult son in the back and lacerating his kidney during a domestic-related disturbance at his residence on October 1, 2023, Mainline Media News reported.
The felony charge of aggravated assault resulted in a plea agreement under which Broadnax will serve five years of probation with certain conditions, including no offensive contact with his son and taking his prescribed medications.
The investigation began when Cheltenham Township police responded to Broadnax’s residence for a report of a stabbing. Witnesses told police they observed Broadnax stab his son in the back following a physical disturbance.
The victim got in a vehicle operated by his girlfriend and headed to a hospital, at which time he became unconscious. A Philadelphia officer then drove the victim to Einstein Hospital where his lacerated kidney had to be removed, Mainline Media said.
