Cheltenham High, Rydal Elementary and hundreds of local homes without power due to storm

Dr. Brian Scriven, Cheltenham School District superintendent, announced this morning that Cheltenham High School is currently without power due to last night’s storm and will be closed today.

PECO is reporting multiple power outages in the Township, impacting roughly 500 customers.

From Dr. Scriven’s message:

Dear Cheltenham Community – Due to the storm that passed through last night, Cheltenham High School is currently experiencing a power outage with no clear estimated time of restoration, and will be closed today. As a result of an estimated 200,000 homes in the region without power, we are unable to have asynchronous learning. All after-school activities are canceled. All other buildings will be operating on their normal schedules. Please remember, today is an early dismissal. Cedarbrook will dismiss at 1:30; K-6 at 2 p.m.

Best,
Dr. Brian W. Scriven
Superintendent of Schools

The Abington School District said Rydal Elementary School is closed Wednesday due to a power outage.

PECO is reporting 16 separate outages in Abington, impacting 213 customers.
