Cheltenham grad, artist, Israeli security chief/terrorism consultant, to honor lives lost at D.C. exhibition

The works of Israeli artist Marc Provisor, a 1980 graduate of Cheltenham High School, will be shown during an exhibition on Thursday, October 9 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The exhibition honors two years since the October 7 attacks in Israel.

“We remember the innocent concert goers who were violently murdered by Hamas. And we remember the families who are still waiting for their loved ones to be returned,” Kennedy Center President, Ambassador Richard Grenell, said in a statement.

The three-day event is presented in partnership with the Hostages & Missing Families Forum. From the Kennedy Center’s description:

Formed less than 24 hours after the horrific Hamas attack on Israeli villages and towns on October 7th, 2023, The Hostages and Missing Families Forum is a civil, volunteer-based organization with no political affiliation, focused on bringing our loved ones back home by any means necessary through all available channels. The forum includes thousands of volunteers, from the families themselves to senior figures in the security, judicial, communication, advertising, creative, and diplomatic sectors.

According to Provisor’s website, he served a counter-terrorism operative after immigrating to Israel and serving as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces from 1981 to 1984.

Following his military service, he pursued formal art education at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and returned to Israel to reengage with security work, eventually becoming the Security Chief of the Shilo region, and then a consultant in the field of Terror Prevention.

Provisor’s art has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and collections worldwide. Samples include:
