Center School, an independent school in Abington for students with language-based learning differences, has been named a 2024 recipient of the Janet L. Hoopes Award.
The annual recognition celebrates contributions by schools or individuals in the field of education for students with learning differences and is awarded by the International Dyslexia Association – PA Branch.
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of Center School,” said Mindy Wawrzyniak, Center School’s Head of School. “Leading this incredible school and being a part of the progress we have made towards supporting students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities are the proudest moments of my career. I am excited to see what the future holds for Center School.”
In 2010, co-founder Kathleen “Kathy” Hunt was honored with the same award. Hunt passed away earlier this year, and school officials said her legacy continues to live on in the students and families Center School serves.
