Capricorn Bookstore in Jenkintown is celebrating its first anniversary in business on Saturday, January 20 from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

“We had a great year. I’m so grateful to the community. It seems like we really filled a need and a desire for an independent bookstore, and people have been showing up for it,” owner Jackie Botto said. “We have customers tell us that they come to us first. They’re patient with orders. I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll be able to keep growing.

“We’re full of books and local art. We’ve been able to do pop-ups, story times, author events, we’ve collaborated with Jenkintown Library and the Hiway Theater, among other small businesses in town,” Botto said.

The anniversary event will include refreshments, make-and-take crafts for the kids, 20% off logo merchandise, and raffle prizes. Glenside resident DJ Vinyl Chickie will be playing a set from 12:00pm – 3:00pm.
