Philly teen arrested in Cheltenham for armed robbery of DoorDash driver, shots fired by both parties, police seeking witnesses

The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced the arrest of Divine Allen Hargrove, 18, of Philadelphia, who is accused of committing armed robbery on Tuesday, May 7, at the Lynnewood Gardens Apartments in Elkins Park.

According to the report, police responded at about 2:40am for a report of a robbery with shots fired.

The victim, a DoorDash delivery driver, told officers that he was making a delivery when he was approached by a male brandishing a firearm and demanding the keys to his vehicle.

According to police, the victim then threw his keys onto the ground, at which point the victim heard a single gunshot. The victim, who is properly licensed to carry a firearm, drew his own handgun and fired a series of gunshots at the suspect, who then fled on foot.

A Cheltenham Police K9 unit quickly located the suspect a short distance away and he was taken into custody. Neither the victim or the suspect were struck by gunfire, police said.

Evidence including a ski mask and the handgun used by the suspect during the robbery was recovered. The suspect’s handgun was loaded with an extended magazine containing 26 live rounds of ammunition. Investigation determined that the resident of the address where the DoorDash order was being delivered had not placed the order, police said.

Hargrove was arraigned on robbery and firearms charges and bail was set at $100,000 cash. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after being unable to post bail.

This case remains under investigation by Cheltenham Detectives. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call 215-885-1600 or email PoliceTips@CheltenhamPA.gov.
