Body of 29-year-old woman found near Pennypack Park woods in Fox Chase, police searching for suspected killer

Police recovered the remains of Melody Rivera, 29, on Thursday afternoon near Pennypack Park’s woods along the 900 block of Tustin Avenue in Fox Chase, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported today.

According to the story, her body was found one week after investigators believe her ex-boyfriend abducted her.

Rivera was last seen by her family on Halloween in the Summerdale section of Philadelphia, police said. According to posts from relatives on Facebook, the woman called her mother to say she was being held against her will by a man known as “G.”

Police believe her abductor to be Geovanni Otero, 29. A warrant has not been issued for his arrest, but investigators are looking to speak with him. The Inquirer noted that he has served time in jail on drug and gun charges since 2015 and was convicted of illegal gun possession in 2018.

At the time of Rivera’s disappearance, he was out on parole and wearing a GPS ankle monitor, which led detectives to the woods where Rivera’s body was found.
