Bishop McDevitt High School Chapel’s stained-glass windows transferred to Father Peter DiMaria’s (’85) parish, GoFundMe launched for restoration, installation

The Friends of Bishop McDevitt Facebook group announced today that the stained-glass windows from the Bishop McDevitt High School Chapel have been transferred to Father Peter DiMaria’s Sacred Heart Parish in Bridgeport (Montgomery County).

Father DiMaria, a 1985 graduate of the now-defunct school in Wyncote, “needs our help in having the 4 stained glass windows restored and installed at Sacred Heart,” the post said. “Donations of any amount will help with this project and if you have any questions or would like to contact Fr. DiMaria, please message us.”

The post included a letter from former McDevitt President Sal DiNenna, a parishioner at Sacred Heart:

From the campaign’s description:

From its inception in 1958 to its closure in 2021, the “Heart” of Bishop McDevitt High School was the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ reserved in the school chapel located on the fourth floor of the building. Countless thousands of students attended Mass, adored the Blessed Sacrament and prayed in that chapel.

The chapel was adorned with four stained glass windows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Charles Borromeo, St. John XXIII, and Venerable Pius XII which are now in the possession of Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeport, PA. The windows need restoration and the pastor, Father DiMaria ’85, would like to place them in the Church’s sacristy.

Each window will cost $6,000.00 to restore and install. You are invited to help preserve a part of Bishop McDevitt’s history and give these windows new life.
