Bicyclist fatally struck by car in Jenkintown was the son of retired Abington Township Detective Sgt. Kevin McCreary

May Funeral Home of Glenside has published the obituary for Kevin McCreary Jr., who died suddenly on October 27 after being struck by a car in Jenkintown while riding his bike.

The accident took place on the 500 block of York Road. McCreary’s identity was not released by officials after he was pronounced dead at the Abington Jefferson Emergency Trauma Center. Police said the operator of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

According to Patrick Molloy, Abington Township Chief of Police, McCreary, Jr. is the son of retired Detective Sgt. Kevin McCreary.

According to the obituary, McCreary, age 43 of Jamison, PA, graduated from Central Bucks East High School and received a Bachelor of Education degree from East Stroudsburg University.

He spent his adult life working with at risk Youth. He was currently working as a Social Studies Teacher at the Mathom House in Doylestown and as Support Staff at the Bucks County Youth Center.

Kevin’s passions were cycling, music especially his beloved Phish, playing guitar and all Philadelphia Sports teams.

Kevin was a mentor for many years to a young man who was going through tough times, therefore in lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Bucks County 2875 York Road, Jamison, PA 18929.

Kevin was always such a nice guy and had an awesome sense of humor.

I remember him making me my first NOFX tape to listen to for the bus ride to school. He was trying to broaden my horizons from Wutang lol. It worked and opened me up to a bunch more cool music.

I’m sure he’ll be missed my many RIP bro

Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Saturday, November 4.
