Jenkintown bicyclist struck by car early Friday morning has been pronounced dead

On October 27, at approximately 6:46am, Jenkintown Police were dispatched to the 500 block of York Road in Jenkintown for a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.

Arriving officers found a bicyclist suffering from severe injuries as a result of the collision, police said.
Second Alarmers Rescue Squad personnel along with Jenkintown Police personnel provided lifesaving
treatment and transportation to Abington Jefferson Emergency Trauma Center.

The injuries sustained were too severe and the bicyclist passed away at the hospital.

Police said the operator of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation into the accident. Officials have not released the identity of the bicyclist.

The Jenkintown Borough Police Department is collaborating in a joint investigation with the Eastern Montgomery County Regional Crash Team and the Montgomery County Coroner’s office to determine the cause of the accident.
