Bethlehem Pike in Springfield Township to receive traffic signal updates beginning Sept. 3

Springfield Township announced today that each signalized intersection along Bethlehem Pike will receive updates to signal timing and detection software starting on Wednesday, September 3.

The announcement noted that the updates are intended to enhance traffic flow and are a response to feedback regarding traffic congestion on the corridor during certain times of day.

“PennDOT retained a traffic management firm to analyze the corridor spanning from Paper Mill Road in Springfield Township to Valley Green Road in Whitemarsh Township. Over several months, the firm gathered data on traffic volumes, signal timing, detection systems, and other relevant factors,” the post said.

Work will take place after the morning rush hour at the northern end of the corridor and progress southward until all intersections have been updated, the township said. Drivers may encounter brief delays.
