Beth Ann White, 56, was president and managing member of Glenside’s Wissahickon Stone Quarry, a family-run company that maintained the oldest and last remaining schist quarry in the nation. She recently passed away from a heart attack while traveling in Rhode Island.
The Wissahickon Stone Quarry closed in the early 2000s during the economic crisis and construction slowdown. Mrs. White took over the firm in 2008 and guided it back towards financial stability.
In 2018, she opened the 1859 Wellness Spa & Salon on Main Street in Manayunk and served as general manager until her passing. She was also a former realtor, vice president at Wachovia bank, and a former CEO of the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
“She always had a lot of energy,” her husband John said. “She never stopped giving and devoted her time to many people. She never got enough of giving.”
