Mr. John M. Fuchs, Abington grad, VP of Credit Suisse, former assistant treasurer of New Jersey, has passed away

Mr. John M. Fuchs, a Glenside native, graduate of Abington High School, retired vice president of Credit Suisse in New York and former assistant treasurer of the State of New Jersey, passed away on March 22. He was 75.

Mr. Fuchs went on from Glenside to graduate from the University of Delaware where he was the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Review. According to his obituary, he worked for a series of newspapers in Delaware and New Jersey, culminating at the Philadelphia Bulletin until it closed in 1982.

Mr. Fuchs also served as press secretary to Congresswoman Millicent Fenwick in her campaign against Frank Lautenberg for a U.S. Senate seat from New Jersey and as an assistant N.J. state treasurer for three state treasurers during the Kean administration.

He later worked in marketing and financial communications with KPMG Peat Marwick in Montvale, N.J.; Prudential Mutual Funds in Newark, N.J.; and the J.P. Morgan private bank in New York. After obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, he worked for more than 20 years as vice president and supervisory analyst at Credit Suisse in New York, where he was responsible for final approval of stock research reports before they were published. He retired in 2021.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, April 3 from 9:00am – 9:45am followed by a funeral mass at 10:00am at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, 617 S Providence Road in Wallingford.
