Azzur Group of Hatboro files for bankruptcy, plans to sell consulting division

Azzur Group, a Hatboro-based life sciences consulting and services firm, has filed for bankruptcy protection and has a deal in place to sell a major part of the company, The Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

The Chapter 11 claim follows underperformance of the company’s pandemic-era Cleanrooms on Demand expansion, according to Bondoro.com, a bankruptcy news site. The company’s three units include:

  • Azzur Consulting – Specializes in regulatory, compliance, quality assurance, and other GxP advisory services.
  • Azzur Labs – Provides analytical laboratory testing and training.
  • Cleanrooms on Demand – Offers flexible cleanroom solutions catering to small and mid-sized biotech firms as well as large pharmaceutical companies.

Azzur’s consulting branch is in the process of being sold for $56 million to Eliquent Life Sciences of Washington, D.C., The Journal said. More than 260 consultants, engineers, scientists and leadership are expected to transition to Eliquent.

“Azzur is actively seeking interested buyers for its other business unit, a cleanrooms-on-demand segment that provides modular, ready-to-use clean rooms for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies during product development and manufacturing,” The Journal wrote.

Tim Dietlin, CEO of Eliquent, said Azzur’s consulting business is a “strong fit” with Eliquent.

“We believe the combined offering will allow us to serve our customers better across the globe,” Dietlin said in a statement.

Azzur Group is located at 330 S Warminster Road. More details about the bankruptcy can be found here.
