The Arcadia University Shoulder Research Center is looking for participants between the ages of 18-65. If you have shoulder pain you may qualify for this study. The research team will ask you some additional questions and perform a shoulder screen to determine your eligibility in this study. The testing will involve measuring your shoulder strength and brain activity using a safe, non-invasive device called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This testing will be performed before and after a pain-relieving injection into your shoulder. Data will be collected during 1 visit which will last 1.5-2 hours. There will also be an option to participate in a second session lasting 1 hour which consist of repeat TMS measures without an injection. The data collection will be completed in the Shoulder Research Center, located in Room 103 of the Health Sciences Building at Arcadia University. Participation in this study is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time by informing us. You will be reimbursed $50 following participation in the first session. Compensation of $25 will be provided for participation in the optional second session.
If you agree to participate, the procedures will be explained before any testing takes place and you will be given an opportunity to ask questions. Next, you will read a consent form and will be asked to sign it if you agree to participate. Please contact one of the researchers, Dr. Jeffrey Paskewitz at jpaskewitz@arcadia.edu if you are interested or want further information.
