Gianna Scarpa, a junior at Arcadia University in Glenside/Wyncote, was involved in a near tragedy Saturday morning on the Schuylkill Expressway, 6ABC reported.
A piece of plywood from another vehicle reportedly smashed through the windshield of her father’s car as he was driving his daughter back to school.
“I saw a piece of plywood from the car flip over and then the windshield instantly exploded, and we were covered in these pretty small shards of glass,” Kevin Scarpa told 6ABC.
He then safely pulled over to the side of the road.
“It was just kind of an instantaneous smash, and there was wood all over, glass all over. My car was absolutely destroyed,” Gianna (pictured below) said. “I don’t know if I will see my car again, but I’m just glad me and my dad are both OK.”
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the case, 6ABC said. The Scarpas are hoping that a witness traveling westbound on the Schuylkill Expressway can provide details of the other vehicle for insurance purposes.
