Glenside man pleads guilty to filming juvenile female at a NJ beach rental property

David Lyons of Glenside pled guilty on August 29 to Manufacturing Child Sexual Abuse Material and Invasion of Privacy in connection with an incident that occurred in July 2023 in Beach Haven, the Ocean County New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office announced.

On July 21, 2024, Beach Haven police received a report that a 15-year-old female had been videotaped as she was taking a shower at a rental property in Beach Haven. An investigation identified Lyons as a suspect and a search warrant was executed at his rental property.

A number of electronic devices belonging to Lyons were seized, the Prosecutor’s Office said. A digital forensic review revealed that Lyons had “surreptitiously recorded a juvenile victim and an adult victim in various stages of undress in a bathroom at another rental property in Beach Haven in July 2023.”

“Additional videos appeared to have been taken in a bathroom at Lyons’ Pennsylvania residence,” the report said.

The Beach Haven Police Department contacted Abington police with their findings. Lyons, 44, was arrested by Abington police in March on multiple charges including Felony Sexual Abuse of Children, Invasion of Privacy, and Producing Obscene and Other Sexual Materials.

At his sentencing on November 14, prosecutors will be seeking a term of six years in the New Jersey State Prison for the Manufacturing Child Sexual Abuse Material charge, and three years for the Invasion of Privacy charge, the Prosecutor’s Office said, noting that the sentences are to run concurrently.
