Arcadia University announced the hiring of Casmera Wick as the new Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach.
Wick will begin her duties at Arcadia on May 1, the athletics department said.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the swim program at such an outstanding university as Arcadia,” Wick said. “I would like to thank AD Brian Granata, Associate AD Michael Hebenstreit and the search committee for putting their trust in me to lead the Arcadia men’s and women’s swimming programs.”
Wick comes to Arcadia after most recently serving as the Assistant Women’s Swimming Coach at Rutgers University. She assisted the head coach in all aspects of the Division I swimming and diving program, which included coaching the sprint group, identifying and recruiting talented athletes, communicating with alumni and coordinating team travel.
While at Rutgers she contributed to NCAA provisional times, 10 school records, seven pool records, the highest finish in program history at the 2022 Big Ten Championships, and 10 Scholar All-American Honorable Mention athletes. Wick also served as the Co-Chair on the Women’s Advisory Committee for the CSCAA.
“We consider ourselves quite fortunate to be able to hire someone with the experience and pedigree of Coach Wick,” Executive Director of Athletics Brian Granata said. “She was an accomplished collegiate swimmer and has experienced success at multiple levels and different locations during her coaching career. Coach Wick is someone that understands the importance of the balance of being a student-athlete and has proven to be quite capable in developing talented swimmers in the water. We look forward to seeing our program continue to grow under her leadership.”
Prior to her time at Rutgers, Wick served as the Associate Head Coach at Villanova University for eight seasons. While there she contributed to 24 school records, an NCAA All-American Honorable Mention athlete, a Big East Sports Excellence Award, a World University Games qualifier, an Olympic Trial qualifier, Big East Champions in several individual and relay events, a Big East Men’s Runner-up, and seven Big East Women’s Swimming Championship Team titles.
Wick was also a seven-time member of the Big East Women’s Swim Coaching Staff of the Year and the Big East Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year in 2018. Before Villanova, Wick served as the Assistant Coach at the University of Pittsburgh for one season where she coached a swimmer to runner-up honors at the Canadian Olympic Trials. Prior to her season at Pittsburgh, she was the Associate Head Coach at Swarthmore College for two seasons, before being named the Interim Head Coach in September of 2010. There she coached the men’s team to a second place finish and Women’s Program to a third place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships.
She also coached a swimmer to NCAA Division III Championships and All American Honors and a Para Athlete in the S9 division to American Records in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events.
“I am very excited to join the dedicated and welcoming athletes, staff and environment at Arcadia,” Wick said.
Wick swam Division I at Rutgers and was an Academic All-American, a two-time All-American Honorable Mention, a three-year NCAA Division I Championship Qualifier and a Big East Champion. She also was named Most Valuable Member of the team and Rookie of the Year, and broke nine Rutgers records during her time as an athlete. Wick obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts with Honors in Psychology in 2004.
