Arcadia Campus Master Plan has taken on several renovations over the past six months as part of its Arcadia2025 Adaptive Strategy.

Renovations and building updates include adjustments to Murphy Hall, home of Media and Communications and Global Media, the Landman Library’s Steinbright Wing, gutted over the summer to make room for an open concept space, and Beechwood Overlook Terrace’s outdoor patio which received new sodding, stone pavers, and new benches. 

Renovations to Stiteler Hall were the most dramatic, and have ruffled the most feathers. All of the theater-style seats were removed to make room for new equipment purchased for the Physical Therapy program.

“It’s basically another Great Room,” Tom Macchi, Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Capital Planning, said in a statement. “The PT program needed more space, and this made sense. The stage is still there, so it will also still serve the theater program.”

Arcadia’s article and posts on recent campus renovations caused concern from our University community members. We apologize for our poor communication and engagement on this issue.

The arts, fine arts, visual arts, music, theater, performing arts — all have always been and will remain a central part of Arcadia University. There is no intent to close any arts programs.

President Nair met with Theater Arts faculty on Monday morning, and executive leaders are planning several listening and campus planning sessions for our community members. We will host two sessions this Friday, Nov. 11. Times and links will be shared in the Arcadia newsletter.
